Why the Correct PCC Issuing Authority Mattered

The official Mumbai guidance specifically refers to a Police Clearance Certificate issued by the Regional Passport Office.

Important: Indian Notarization Is Not Spanish Sworn Translation

A translation notarized by an Indian Notary Public is not automatically equivalent to a Spanish sworn translation.

An Indian notary may authenticate a signature, affidavit, declaration or document copy. That notarization does not appoint the translator as a Spanish Traductor Jurado and does not transform an ordinary translation into a translation certified under Spain’s appointed-translator system.

Official Spanish consular guidance states that when an English-language document is to be used in Spain, the translation should be completed by a Sworn Translator-Interpreter duly registered in Spain. It also states that translations completed through such an appointed professional do not need separate legalization by the consulate.
