This video is explanation of Spanish sworn translations (Traducción Jurada) for official use in Spain. Learn which documents may require one, who can certify it, what the completed translation includes, what affects turnaround and which delivery options may be available.
The exact requirement depends on where the document will be submitted and what that authority asks for.
Our team has been emailed the following questions on this subject:
1. Is a Normal Certified Translation the Same?
No. A translation described as “certified” for another country is not automatically a Spanish Traducción Jurada. If a Spanish authority specifically asks for a sworn translation, check that it is prepared through the appropriate Spanish sworn-translator framework. [Read: Spanish Sworn Translation Requirements]
2. Can the Translation Be Digital?
Spanish regulations allow qualifying electronic certification of sworn translations. However, digital validity and submission acceptance are separate questions. Before choosing digital-only delivery, check whether the particular consulate, BLS centre, university, registry or other receiving authority accepts the document electronically.
3. How Long Does It Take?
Turnaround depends on the document rather than one fixed timeframe. The main factors are the number of pages, language pair, document complexity, stamps or handwritten content, apostille requirements and sworn-translator availability.
4. Need a Spanish Sworn Translation?
